The costs- prospective owners need to consider the expense involved in taking on a cat – annual vaccinations are essential, plus regular flea and worm treatment and it is advisable to take out pet insurance. All this is repaid of course by the love, companionship (and entertainment!) you will receive over many years.
Neutering– cats are normally neutered before being re-homed but if you take on a kitten this is essential when it reaches 4-5 months. Not only is the cat population exploding but un-neutered cats are more likely to contract F.I.V. for which there is currently no cure nor vaccine.
Commitment– before taking on a cat or kitten remember this is a lifetime commitment. Provision should be made for any cat that might outlive you.
